Creating a Wedding with Intention

Updated: Jun 18, 2021

Wedding planning can be an overwhelming task. Right out the gate couples are full of anticipation and excitement, but often steam rolled by well intended family members and friends. I think it is really important to go into the planning of your wedding with some clear goals in mind. I have put together some ideas to help you create a celebration that is an authentic representation of you as a couple.

  • Be really intentional about your guestlist. This is a tough one. Do not let the pressure of others derail you. This entire event is about the two of you joining your lives together. This is about your story. If you want a small, intimate gathering, that is what you should create. If you love the idea of having a big celebration that includes all of the people who have been a part of your lives, invite them all!

  • Choose a venue that you love and reflects the two of you. Do you want it to be indoors or out? In the Pacific Northwest there is definitely no shortage of breathtaking spots to tie the knot. Creating an inspiration board compiling images and words that convey not only what you want your wedding to look like but also what you want it to feel like will help you both to get on the same page. This will also be a great tool to share your vision with your vendors.

  • Make sure the ceremony itself reflects what you want to share as a couple. This moment is something you will always cherish, say what you mean, share what is really important to you. Write vows together or individually. This will always be something you hold close to your heart. There are so many traditions associated with weddings, but the reality is, there are no rules! Decide what is most meaningful to you two and forget the rest.

  • Serve food and drinks you love. Don’t do what is trendy or traditional if it doesn't jive with what you enjoy. Do you hate cake? Don't serve it! There are so many creative and fun ideas out there. Have fun planning your wedding day and make sure you are creating a day that you both will really enjoy.

As you wade through all of the decisions that are ahead of you, remember, most importantly, stay true to what is important to the two of you and what you envision for this day. There are so many incredible options available. When it comes to the details, one helpful piece is to find great vendors that will steer you in the right direction. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by where to start, feel free to reach out to us.

We are only one piece of the puzzle for your event, but we care a whole awful lot about it being exactly what you want and are more than happy to help point you in the right direction!
